Legend has it that the building which is now The Ale House
was, at one time, a brothel. This was long before Whole Foods moved into
the neighborhood, mind you. And legend also has it that the Madame was murdered
on the second or third floor by a disgruntled client.
There are numerous tales of strange activities in the Ale
House, and many of them are even attributed to the ghosts: Chairs and stools showing
up in places where they shouldn't be, glasses breaking, sounds of footsteps without
an obvious source of feet, and the occasional tap or touch felt when nobody is behind
you.
Also, occasionally somebody plays Bananarama's "Venus" on
the jukebox. No human would do that.

Some people say they see an image of a woman in a flowing
white gown with her arms raised, floating in front of the window. Others say it's
just a trick of light. And still others say the photographer probably just used
a long exposure and had his friend take the picture while he went over and jumped
around like an idiot.
