As a product of the U.S. public education system and as a taxpayer, I am outraged by this story. Mary Kay Letourneau, 36, is in prison for having sex with one of her students, a 13-year-old boy. It fills me anger and leaves me asking the burning question: Dammit, where were these teachers when *I* was in school?
I think every 13-year-old boy in this nation ought to make his voice heard. March on Washington! Storm the bastille! Rock the vote! This is a travesty of justice! They may crush your bones, but never let them crush your adolescent fantasies!
Oh but please continue to just say no to drugs.

1) Sometimes, when the text field of these pages is only partly in the window, and I click on the field to type my witty retorts, Netscape tells me that there has been an error. It doesn't actuallly prevent me from typing; it just scrolls up a bit so the field is fully in the window, and then shows me a little alert box that says, 'Error!' and then gives me some arcane number or somesuch. Everything works fine after that.
Such a thing just happened to me. Weeerd.
2) Er, I forgot what I had to say. Hmm.

I DID have a science teacher in high school that was to die for... she ended up marrying the assistant principal (last name became Huff geez what a name).... meanwhile I was too busy trying to get julie stone to go out with me and never really noticed the teacher til that year was over... julie ended up getting married to a guy and moving to round rock... got fat and started pumping out the younguns.... sooz, you may have run into her... the austin area is not THAT big....
on the subject of Letourneu, obviously this is not a sexual predator thing. not that I condone sex with 13 year olds or anything like that. but she obviously has feelings for the kid, whether the kid really understands whats going on seems uncertain. he's probably just blown away by the fact that a grown woman WANTS to have sex with him... I know at age 13 I sure would have been. and my pants would have promptly landed on the floor and stayed there...... but it seems that locking her up is just going to reinforce her feelings, the old us against the world thing.... a BETTER sentence would be for them to be married and forced to actually live like married people do.... trust me, things will change quickly.........

She's already married and apparently has 5 kids by that man.
He's gone into hiding with his kids in Alaska from what I understand.
I think she took the teacher/student relationship a bit too far. I have to wonder if she's been tested for some kind of obsessive disorder, cause she's got it bad for this kid.

biologically... not far off... she's a bit past her prime biologically but not by much.... i MEANT that her and the KID should be forced to get married... she wouldn't be able to work as a teacher so she would have to get a different job, one that'll let her take off work to have her kids (which she seems determined to do regularly) he'll have to get a job to help out and since he doesn't have a HS diploma or any marketable skills other than sperm donor, he's probably going to end up flipping burgers somewhere. he'll decide that this adult life thing is a pain in the ass and want out in short order.... she'll get frustrated because he'll not want to hold a job and instead will want to run with his friends all day, and get fired. she in turn will realize that relating to a 14 year old is different that relating to an adult. actually it sounds like a sentence that might teach some lesson's all around.....
