I called K.C. the day of the storms, and we talked about the poor TV news guys trying to make do with what they had.

The CBS affiliate's studios were whacked head-on by a tornado, taking out all of their operations. After being off the air for about 4 hours, they set up shop at their transmitter site. It was really funny seeing these TV news anchors sitting at a card table, passing around microphones, talking about the tornadoes and having no information to talk about. All their radars were down, as well as most of their remote trucks. It was pretty funny watching the flub-ups.

Some of those weathercasters were working 15 to 18 hour days that day. It was pretty intense. I had a tornado touch down about 2 miles from my house, but we saw little more than rain. Didn't hear anything, either. The power flickered a few times, but that was it.

It was bad, though. The tornadoes took out a whole lot of downtown. These skyscrapers were pummeled with debris, taking out hundreds of windows. The blocked off all of downtown because huge chunks of broken glass were falling out of the windows of skyscrapers to the ground below. Really dangerous stuff.

They're estimating about $100,000,000 total. How they come to those numbers, I'm not sure, but one thing is for sure, downtown was torn up pretty bad. Several buildings totally destroyed.

But, thanks for the thought, ror*. HiJinx and I made it through just fine.

I'm okay.

God spared me...and all of the mid TN area...

Not ONE person was killed...

And people say there's no God...

I've never really doubted God's existence, but I've had a few brushes with ungodliness.

Like that ungodly smell that Hijinx used to emit after eating a couple of bags full o' Krystals!

I heard there was one guy who was seriously injured...

HAH! WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!!???

Seriously, tho, I'm glad so few people got hurt, since I have a number of relatives in that town, in addition to our esteemed Nuns.
