I'm so proud of myself! I am now a Certified Master Macintosh Power User. JUST THE THING I need on my resume! Now I can get that development job at Microsoft!

(They're even going to send me a certificate to frame and put on my wall. Joy!)

Congrats! Does that mean the Mac is here to stay?

So, you got a certificate saying that you use a Power Mac? Or does the certificate mean you can utilize a Power Mac with minimal difficulties (even in the tough stuff like networking)?

I could always use another fire hazard on the wall...

Congrats, Homer!

That sounds much more impressive than my "Learning the Personal Computer" certificate from ICS...curse you, Sally Struthers! ;)

So, does the certificate entitle you to, y'know, click on stuff?

What's it *DO* for ya?

ShadowSprite: I *have* a Power Mac, and I *am* a Certified Power User. Not only that, but a MASTER Power User.

It does nothing for me, really. Except show that I know my way around OS 8, which is a bit like saying that you know your way around an office building. Oh, and that I'm qualified to 'mentor' people in Mac use. Hyuck.

Is mentoring without a license such a problem that they had to DO something about it?

("Wait a minute... that advice you gave me sucks! Lemme see your certificate... just as I thought! You're an MSCE!!")

Do we have to start calling you Master Homer?

And what of this mentoring? Will you be travelling to exotic places like Mississippi to bring the Gospel According to Mac to the great unwashed?

No, I think what you'll be seeing next is that I'll be getting a similar certification in Perl and HTML (Perl being the more important of the two).

Which reminds me.. Any VisualBasic geeks out there who can point me to a good archive of source projects? I got a nifty thing called REALbasic which can import VB projects and compile them. For Mac and Windoze, even.

Homer, Katt would be a good source for VisualBasic stuff.

I'm a VB5 god, and I know enough VB6 to scare most mortals. Feel free to ply me with questions.

For VB stuff, check out:

Visual Basic Thunder

Anything specific you're looking for?

I'm looking for HTML classes to modify and bend to my whims. But any old interesting source code is a good thing... I'll pokearound (<--satanic devil thing to do) the sites you referenced and get back with any questions which may burden my soul afterwards.

Gracias.

I have some lovely wallpaper with dollar bills on it, and we can throw up a "Here's your money" web page for her. That'd be fun.

That reminds me of this TV commercial where this college kid takes a picture of a boiling pot of water, downloads it to his computer from his digital camera, and sends it to his mom via email with the caption 'Wish food were here.'

Now, has this kid ever heard of a PAWN SHOP? Does he really NEED that digital camera more than he needs ramen for his boiling pot of water?

Tee hee..she called me in a panic the other day, "Mom you know the loan they said was here and had paid my tuition and housing?? Well it's not here! A temp input that into the system by mistake! They are going to kick me out of school?!"

So I conferenced called financial aid, housing, and the loan board, it was a mistake, but I have been approved as a co-signer, just sign the doc they just sent out and everything will be ok. They deal with this kinda thing all the time.. Court was able to breath again.
