Some of you may be familiar with Photopoint. Photopoint is a web site that offers free image hosting to anyone, anywhere, for any reason. I think their intention is to house the world's largest photo album. Much like you would show mom and dad pictuers of the kids when they come to visit, you can now do this online with Photopoint, uploading new pics as you take them, and informing friends that they can come look at your photos at their leisure. A neat idea, really, although lots of people are just using it for hosting ebay pictures...
It is clearly against Photopoint's terms of service to post any illegal or pr0n0riffic material on their server. However, there doesn't seem to be any measures in place to enforce these rules. What's even more interesting is that NONE - NADA - ZILCH - ZERO of the Photopoint images are protected. Yes, there are "private albums", but if you have the direct URL to a particular photo in Photopoint's database, you can pull it up, from any page, at any time. This has recently made for a great deal of entertainment at my house, and on the pinball IRC channel I frequent.
One of the technogeeks on #pinball has written a k-rad little Perl script to randomly pull stray images from Photopoint's 2-million plus pictures, which has been the source of much cheap fun as of late.
I equate this to going through all of the photo envelopes at Eckerds, looking at stranger's pictures. You know you've always wanted to do it, but you've never had the balls to jump the counter and start digging through all the little green packages!
Be warned, however. When I said that there was no system in place for monitoring Photopoint's upload content, I was serious. You'll find some stuff that'll turn your stomach, and other times you'll find things that will cause you to bust a gut in laughter. Rarely, however, will you pull up a "superrandom" (11 totally random images) without at least one of them being "pr0n0riffic", so view with discretion.
The images are uploaded and numbered by Photopoint sequentially, so if you find something interesting, try doing a "+11" or a "-11" to see what photos are around the one you like.

I got a whole freakin' photo album of a woman putting various items into her, um, special place. A Barq's root beer can, a can of Glade air freshener, various vegetables (with a carrot in her mouth) to make her appear salad-like, a vase with some long-stemmed something or other, a blow dryer with the blowin' end inserted one place, and the plug another...

It seems Photopoint got wise to our games and now requires that each image also be accessed with a unique Owner ID effectively ruining our random weenie-spanking fun.
