Which is it?

#1. Damned if you do.

#2. Damned if you don't.

Rules:

Answers in the tone of "it depends entirely on the situation" will not be accepted. Bonus points for those who explain their reasoning.

Definitely damned if you do.

No good deed goes unpunished, ya know.

For sure, you're damned if you do. If you don't, you can always claim ignorance.

The best answer for nearly every situation: "It was like that when I found it."

#2. Damned if you don't.

Oh sure, you *may* be damned if you do, too, but if you don't you'll always wonder if maybe you would've been damned if you did.

It's at times like these that I fall back on the hackneyed, the axiomatic, the cliche:

"If Jesus died for my sins, who am I to make his sacrifice a vain one by not comitting them?"

#3 All of the above...

(I'll just be damned on general principles....)

From my personal experience, it's "damned if you do" because invariably, I always manage to get damned for the things I *do* more than the things I *don't* do.

Definitely 'damned if you do'...because not doing it is still doing *something*.

well, with my kind of luck, i will have to go with C --- damned no matter what i do. i already have reservations for a quaint little room in hell, and every once in a while i do something to toss another log in there to get it a little hotter.
