Resolutions

I am cutting back on public streaking, driving on the sidewalk, dropping acid in church, and singing with my mouth full.

How about you guys? Any New Year's resolutions?

Actually, I will cut way back on caffeine and alcohol, I'm going to write/finish a cookbook, I'm getting my real estate license (this month!), and I plan to go to Europe for 2 - 4 weeks this summer. Weeeeeee!

And, if you guys are reeeeeeal nice, I might make it to a Texas snerd this year.

Dropping acid in church sounds interesting.

Nah, no resolutions here.

I resolve to not have New Year's Resolutions, but actual life changes instead of something that I'll blow and forget about by February.

See, I find that unfortunate that more people don't make resolutions. Why not set goals? It helps one focus. You can revise them monthly, if you need to, but at least it helps you see where you are at. And you can measure your success (and I don't believe in failure, because you will have achieved at least SOMETHING during the course of a year - don't look at the things you did NOT accomplish).

I think you misunderstood. I don't make new year's resolutions really because they're arbitrary and most people, myself included, end up forgetting about them by February (if it takes THAT long). However, a real life change (which could take place at any time, but may start at the new year because we humans like defined starting points) is something that you really make an effort at and end up changing your life.

It's like the philosophy that says you shouldn't diet, you should change the way you live and eat. Diets are temporary fixes, if that. Making a real change is a real positive step.

i agree gowan, the only new year's res. i have ever kept was the one to stop making resolutions. i did that about 10 years ago. making a change based on a date, rather than a need is silly. the only reason i ever made in was so that i would have an answer for people who said, what is your resolution. it was bogus, why not make a change in mid september, rather than putting it off until new years

witch, it is unnecessary to make new years resolutions if you are perfect.

So far so good. I haven't made any resolutions yet. But like with all resolutions, I'm sure I'll end up breaking it before the month is over!
