Interesting mindcandy. If you ever wanted to see Rene Russo in the world's most revealing dress, this is your movie. In fact, Ms. Russo spends a significant time on screen nekkid or at least, topless.

Fine shots of Mr.Brosnan's butt also.

I spent the whole movie muttering to myself, "if *I* had that kinda money I'd spend my time in the audience of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and just laugh my ass off." I'd probably write million-dollar checks to *all* the contestants before the show so they don't really try very hard...

Anyway, if you're into needlessly-complicated bank-heist movies (though this one takes place in a museum) it's a good time.

EXTREMELY HIGH production values. They spent a lot of money making this one and every dime is onscreen, from oppulently furnished apartments, to exotic locales, to expensive transportation, to a complete, painstaking recreation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Oh, and Rene Russo's butt. I think most of the CGI budget went to enhancing that. Yow.

As I recall from the publicity tour that went around when this movie was originally released, Ms. Russo wasn't enhanced for the film, but Mr. Brosnan DOES have a stunt butt.

A nitro-burning funnybutt?

Methane burning, more likely.

And let me just say, with a name like "Pierce" you know you're in for some boinking.

As usual, I'm the last one in on things. But I did finally see "Thomas Crown Affair" this weekend.

I *hate* Rene Russo! She's like 46 years old and has the body of...well NO HUMAN WOMAN! No fair!

Other than that, the movie was quite enjoyable.

46? Wow. I am doubly impressed. She writhes around on the floor like a 20-year-old.

Her b-day Feb 17, 1954. She just turned 46.

Saw this one the other evening, too. I was more impressed with Brosnan's acting than I've ever been before, but that's not saying much. Lots of happy sexy scenes. No huge revelations on the nature of the human spirit, other than, "Yeah, I'd go with the rich dangerous guy, too, probably."

Heh. Not ALL movies are intended as revelations of the nature of the human spirit.

An excellent example is Pokemon: The Movie.

yes, that's all about the nature of the beanie baby spirit.

I'm not saying that all movies should be meditations on the true nature of spirit made manifest in flesh or anything, just that if I'm going to spend a bunch of time staring at the tube, I at least want something to think about. Movies can be fun and sexy and titilating *and* thoughtful. Example: The Fifth Element. Scantily-clad babes, fun car chases (in mid-air, no less), space battles, irreverence, AND oppressive governments, snide commentary on political correctness and fashion, the meaning of love and life...

Thomas Crown Affair was interesting, but not excellent. It reminded me too much of Hudson Hawk. :-)

Oh! I *like* Hudson Hawk. It's just so... so... overthetopish. And Sandra Bernhard is so deliciously evil. I wish my remote had an "Insert Bernhard" button so I could stick her in, say, Diff'rent Strokes reruns.

And the 5th Element will always be one of my top 10 favorites. Only Milla Jovovich can beat the living crap out of Antagonists and look cute doing it. Yum.

Galaxy Quest is another unassuming flick that, strangely enough, actually manages to tug on your heartstrings. I expected mind candy and wacky/zany/juvenile comedy, but instead it rises above the genre and actually works. I was really sucked into the aliens' plight, and felt like cheering when the Protagonists won the day. (No spoliers here -- you KNOW Tim Allen can't be killed in the first of what is to be a monster franchise.)

The Matrix is just too cool on so many levels. It's real action anime. A kind of hackneyed story, but the way it's told -- wooo!
