I have to say that if you've ever enjoyed a martial arts movie, even if you felt guilty for it afterwards, then you must make a beeline to see 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' before it leaves town. Don't wait for video.

It's got Michelle Yeoh in it, which should be enough for anyone, but not only that, it's got Chow Yun Fat. And then it's directed by Ang Lee. It's got beautiful cinematography. It's got interesting characters and believable motivations. It's got movie magic. It's got fight scenes that actually serve the story. And it has Michelle Yeoh. Mmmm.

Go see this movie or I WILL AVENGE THE DEATH OF YOUR SENSE OF TASTE!

We don't have it in our town, sadly. Wah.

I saw it at a preview a couple of weeks ago and I'm ready to see it again.

It really is a great mix of action and drama, although there is a flashback smack dab in the middle of the story which I thought hurt the focus of the film. Still, the story of the flashback is just as well done as the rest of the film, it just hurts the flow.

Excellent acting, flawless choreography and a great story to boot. Don't miss it!

Yeah, even the Dobie is lacking in good movies these days since Landmark took them over. And Texas Union, sheesh, don't get me started on that one!
Pisses me off whenever I think about it!

If I'm not mistaken, the River Oaks where I saw it was a Landmark theat(re|er).

Crouching Tiger was great. The only scene I didn't like was the tree-top scene. Hmmm. Too UNREAL for me. But everyone else loved that scene.

After my stepdaughter watched it with us (we rented it last week), she said "I want to learn how to do that!" She's already signed up for a martial arts class! :-)

ahhhhhhh finally! someone with some sense.

in the theatre where i watched this, everyone was way into the movie until the tree top scene, and then they all just started cracking up and couldn't wait until the movie was over.

good luck with your daughter as she learns to squirrel leap between trees.

I liked the treetop scene. It was no more or less unreal than the rest of the whole movie, and it was also beautiful.

I suppose. But something about that treetop made me cringe more than the rooftop scenes.
