I've been pretty bitchy on the bbs the last coupla weeks... I mean, more tha usual, even. It's just so fun to spar with Spas and Homer. :-)
So, lest I appear totally evil, I'd like to balance the meanness with some good. Below is the text of a letter I'm dragging around to folks in Austin for a benefit concert we're doing. The letter, obviously, explains what's happening. Please don't feel obligated to help, etc., but if you have an urge, feel free to e-mail me (sooz@ev1.net). Thanks for listening/reading.
--------------------------
Dear Friends,
My name is Susan Laxton, and I'm working with a group of people on a very special benefit. Will Melendez (also known as Tom Andrews on KIXL 970 AM radio) is a local radio engineer here in Austin, currently at KIXL and formerly at KJFK.For three years, Will has been suffering from chronic pancreatitis, and the cause is unknown. The pancreas is an important part of the digestive system that creates enzymes to break down the food in the stomach. With pancreatitis, the enzymes are over-produced until they start to attack the pancreas. It's extremely painful, and Will has been in pain for the last five months. His Austin doctors have referred him to the famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in hopes that they will be able to help him.
Will has insurance for the medical costs, but needs transportation and lodging costs for him and his wife, Caroline (whose help he needs while at Mayo).
A group of concerned individuals have collaborated to organize a benefit concert to help with those costs. With the help of local musicians we will have live music as well as other family fun: great door prizes, food, games etc.
We have come to you asking your help with anything you can contribute. Gift certificates, products, etc. would be great for the raffle, or even a cash donation would help. We will acknowledge your support at this upcoming event with flyers and signs, listing you as a sponsor for this much-needed event.
You're very welcome to join us at this event, as well!

Why do you think I keep coming back?
:)
Sooz, you know if I didn't really like you, I wouldn't give you shit.

Likewise, SpasPal. If I really thought you were, well, anything but a nice guy, I wouldn't feel comfortable enough to spar with you. But you're pretty fun to engage in debate, so what the heck, right?

Besides, I think some people LIKE wathing us argue.
Maybe we should consider our own radio talk show?
:)

Yeah, but I'm talking you and me. We could have our own local, point/counterpoint kind of thing. Me right, and you wrong. :)
To paraphrase and quote Dan Ackroyd:
"Sooz, you ignorant slut!"
We could be a hit!
