As much as I go to movies, you people are going to REGRET having put this review section in here.
Saw 8MM this past weekend. Now I have to say that in most things, I personally like Nicholas Cage. He's just off-beat enough to get my vote. But I have to say, that these last 2 movies of his, have left something to be desired. Snake Eyes, I was doubly disappointed about because it had both Nick and Brian DePalma.
8MM, had some interesting moments, but it was SLOW. Very slow. Subject matter, and story line was interesting. But in true Joel Schumacher fashion, but puts up the sails only have to have the wind let out of them. Nicholas Cage as well as Quaqin Phoniex (yes, River's brother) raelly offered great role portrayals. But the overall movie just fell short of delivering a real punch, which of movie of that type seems like it should have, and delivered more of a pansy slap.

The only thing I've heard about that film was from a friend of mine at work. Her reaction was that she felt like she needed a bath after she got out of the theater.
Personally, I've always liked Nicholas Cage.

I saw this Cage movie the other night... 'Vampire's Kiss.' Apart from an extremely hilarious phone booth scene (and it may have just been my level of inebriation which made it hilarious), it completely sucked. I was surprised, because I usually like Cage, too. He just stank in this one.

I dunno...I can't look at Cage and NOT think of Charlie from "Peggy Sue Got Married" or Hi from "Raising Arizona"
He will always be that goofy guy to me...

Ok, so I saw 8mm.
It reminded me a lot of Angel Heart; dark, spooky, descent into evil... I didn't think it was slow, either. It wasn't hyperkinetic, which helped focus on the relationship Cage has with his family. Marital bliss isn't all gunfights and car chases (...so I've heard). :)
It gets a thumbs-up from me, tho I don't think I'd reccommend it to my mom.

Well, another Cage movie, 'Wild At Heart' has a committed relationship (were they married?) BEING gunfights and car chases. But that's David Lynch for ya...

Yeah, that David Lynch has his finger on the pulse of America.
Him and David Cronenberg.

Nicholas Cage has not made a decent movie since Valley Girl
