New Radicals

You may have heard their song "You Get What You Give" on the radio or on movie trailers this summer. I liked the song when I heard it on the radio, then as it faded away from rotation, I kind of forgot about them.

Then, I drove to Atlanta, and one of the stations there played another track from the CD that was even better than the first I had heard, so I bought the disc. I've not regretted it!

The melodies are really nice, but the lyrics are almost as good:

We did a porno film for coke I hear I'm big in Japan... Went back to her kitchen Put the coke all in a can Tied up a TV Minister In walked her dad He staretd drinking coffee Too much sugar on the go He fell dead on the floor He thought the coke was Sweet and Low

Another grand example, and the album's full of 'em:

She came from a world that is so far out Roller skating into my life I never had no doubt She asked where to get that velvet colored hair I said, "I got lots more somewhere If you touch my big..."

hehehe

I don't know what's more inspired. The music, or the lyrics. This is GOOD stuff, yall.

No...I don't believe you did... :)

I agree w/ Cleo, tho...I like that song Get What you Give quite a bit. On the downside, Limp Bizkit's new CD is apparently for white-wannabe gangsta IMO. If I hear someone is "in the house" on more time I'm just going into mental collapse (you guys don't count). I loved their cover of George Michael's "Faith" on their 1st CD...but can't find anything I really care for (as I'm not really into the suburban rap scene) on the new CD.

I found a truly groovy cut on TFP's MP3 site by a group called "NTrance". They did a replay of Stayin' Alive that's really fine.

If TFP's FTP (heh) server would ever get fixed, I'd post the URL.

Oh, this is a good time to mention an old name, by the way...

Anyone remember a munchie by the name of "TXProud"???

He runs panthermodern.net with TFP. Who'd have ever dreamed that he'd grow into someone with such completely cool musical tastes?

I've emailed with him a fwe times in recent weeks. He's certainly shed his munchiedom!

Speaking of being big in Japan, I just got the new Tom Waits CD. It's making me wish I were drunk.

Is that a good or bad thing?

Is it so depressing you just wanna get sloshed, or is it the kinda music you sing along with but only when you're drunk?

Well, its obvious that Tom's drunk, so you want to join him.

Speaking of Tom:

Did you guys seem Mystery Men?

While it stared my stalking victim to be, Janneane Garafalo, (which was the reason I went to see it), Tom had the best part in the movie, and the best line. They were in and old folks home, where the "bad guys" were in there,a dn Mr Furious and The Shoverler were trying to help out. Bungled the whole operation of course, and Tom comes over and give them card, saying he's a weapons expert. Not if the line on teh card denoting "Chicken Rentals" wasn't enough, Mr Furious makes thte statement about him living in an old folks home, to which he replies, "Oh I don't live here. I'm just here for the ladies" I thought I was gonna pee my pants!!!

The rest of the movei sucked though, except for some of the lines that Eddy Izzard also had. Those 2 were the highlight of the movie.
