| Thursday 3/15/01 - Conferences | |
| Another perk of being an
officially-registered, badge-wearing festival bigwig is that in addition
to getting guaranteed access to any show, you can also attend any and
all conferences.
The blurry guy on the right is none other than David Byrne. Wait! Don't go! I swear not all of the pictures are this bad! So, umm, anyway, David Byrne was interviewed, and gosh darnit, he seems like a nice guy. Rather soft-spoken. Bit of a low-talker. I bet he'd be really cool to have a beer with. Here's a better picture, but I didn't take it.

| Thursday 3/15/01 - Rock And Roll! Wooo! | |
|
Okay, so Wednesday night we didn't really last too long, we hadn't really gotten over the jet lag, and we pooped out kinda early. Tonight, we were rested and ready to kick out the proverbial jams. Thursday night turned out to be a quite spectacular night. Having fared so well at Emo's the night before, we returned and saw a band called The Nerves at 9 o'clock. Here's kinda what they looked like, if anyone cares: ...but they were pretty awful. But, we endured because we knew that coming up at 10 o'clock would be J. Mascis and the Fog, but who knew that it was gonna turn out to be a sort of punk rock supergroup?
Loud. Punk. Phat. Gotta love that. Later we trekked to a club called Room 710 to see The Glands, who are currently featured in heavy rotation in my CD player. Here's a picture of them:
Note the ghostly orb on one of the glands' head. Damn fine performance even without the occult theatrics. Our final show of the night was the Ass Ponys at the Speakeasy. Spectacular.
